Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power. - Psalm 21:13
School is almost on winter break, family is making their plans to arrive to town, there are still cookies to make for the bazaar, the pageant to attend, and extra choir practices for the cantata, oh and all that shopping yet to be done. When did December become so hurried? As a child this month seemed to drag on and on like Christmas morning, warm apple pie, and presents would never get here, but now as an adult the days seem to fly by and the excitement and rest that of my youth seem to be gone. I am reminded to breathe. I encourage you also to breathe. Breathe in the scripture that exults the Lords splendor and keeps the promises made to Abram. Breathe in the scripture that proclaims Jesus as Christ our Lord and Savior. In the busyness of our stuff, the things that get in the way of our continual praise to God, breathe in the live giving Word of God. Take these moments in this devotional to hear the Good news proclaimed in Christ Jesus, be refreshed in and focused on the one that makes this season on of hope and joy where we are freed to sing in and praise the power of God. As you go to the school, church, and community events, look for Jesus, see where you praise him in the midst, look for the stillness in the chaos and breathe in the life that comes in Jesus. Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.

Most Merciful God, Bring peace to us in this busy time of year, reorient us to your strength giving us courage to sing and praise your power. Watch over us in these bleak winter months, sustain us with your strength. Help us to breathe in your love and truth. Amen.
